In an unprecedented situation, hundreds of hungry people of the Eastern Ghouta seize two warehouses for stored food items
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights observed an unprecedented situation of attacking by hundreds of Syrian citizens in the besieged Eastern Ghouta on warehouses contain stored foodstuffs, and in the details monitored and obtained by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: about 2000 citizens attacked a warehouse of the Unified Relief Office in Hammuriyyeh town in the Eastern Ghouta, where the citizens took a ton and a half of the stored food, also the Syrian Observatory learned that tens of people attacked after midnight of yesterday a warehouse of Rif Dimashq Province in Hammuriyyeh town, where the warehouse contains 80 tons of sugar, which is almost lost from the markets in the Eastern Ghouta.
These attacks on food warehouses which are the first of their kind and an unprecedented situation; came after the stop of entering food aid for about 3 months to the Eastern Ghouta, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored on the 24th of July 2017 the entry of the last batch of foodstuffs to the Eastern Ghouta via al-Wafidin Camp, after paying a large bribe to the checkpoints around the Eastern Ghouta in order to allow the aid to entered to the Eastern Ghouta, also the Syrian Observatory’s local sources confirmed that the citizens’ attack on the warehouses in Hammuriyyeh town –controlled by Rahman Corps– came as a result of not provide the citizens with ration materials or the goods that are missing in the markets of the Eastern Ghouta, despite the stop of entering the humanitarian aid.
