The Syrian Observatory For Human Rights

The regime forces in conjunction with their control of most of Al-Bokamal city control al-Salhiya town and besiege the organization in the area between it and al-Mayadin

Deir Ezzor Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: military operations continue in the far eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, where the violent clashes continue between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian, Arab and Asian nationalities against members of the “Islamic State” organization of non-Syrian and Syrian nationalities, in areas within al-Bokamal city in the northern and northwestern sections of the city, which used to be the last city for the organization in Syria and the largest remaining stronghold of it within the Syrian territory, amid more advancement by the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them in the city, where they were able to control most of the city, and the clashes are still taking place in the other parts of the city, amid attempts by the “Islamic State” organization to carry out counterattacks which may enable it to advance and regain control of it lost of the city that has a strategic importance.

This advancement in al-Bokamal city is accompanied by violent clashes in the western banks of Euphrates River, less than 35 km away to the west of the city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, and the Syrian Observatory learned that violent clashes are taking place between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them against members of the “Islamic State” organization, where the regime forces were able to control Salhiya town and the organization has become trapped in about 7 towns and villages between Mahkan (adjacent to al-Mayadin) and Salhiya, also the Syria Democratic Forces advanced in the east in parallel to this advancement, and Syrian Observatory for Human Rights received information that members of the organization have withdrawn of the villages before being besieged by the regime forces in the western bank of Euphrates.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on the 12th of November 2017 that the regime forces and their allied militiamen of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, led by Brigadier in the regime forces Suhail Al-Hassan, and backed by the tribal militiamen, starting their violent attack coming from Al-Mayadin areas on the western outskirts of the Euphrates River towards Al-Bokamal city, which is near the Syrian – Iraqi border, in the eastern part of Deir Ezzor province. The SOHR learned that the regime forces managed to achieve strategic and big advancement through advancing to tens of square kilometers and reach an area of about 35 km west of Al-Bokamal city, which is the largest stronghold remained for ISIS in Syria.
