Under a shower of aerial and ground shelling…about 10 factions continue their violent counter attacks against the regime forces and regain 5 villages at least in the south-eastern countryside of Idlib and advance in other ones

The fierce clashes are still continuing in the south-eastern countryside of Idlib, accompanied by violent and intensive shelling by the regime forces and the warplanes and helicopters as well as the exchange of targeting in the battle lines, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored that the fighters of the factions of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham, Al-Sham Corps, Jaysh al-Izza, the Free Idlib Army, Jaysh al-Nukhba, the Second Army, Jaysh al-Nasr, the Islamic Party of Turkestan, Ahrar Al-Sham Islamic movement, are continuing their violent attack on the villages which the regime forces have advanced into, since the 29th of December 2017, and earlier, in an attempt by the factions to achieve advancement and strike the regime forces in several fronts in order to scatter them to prevent them to advance end take the control of Abu Al-Duhur Military Airbase which the regime forces managed yesterday to take the control of its southern part, after violent clashes accompanied by violent and intensive shelling by the regime forces and warplanes and helicopters affiliated to the regime and Russia.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored that the attacking factions managed to achieve advancement and they took the control of the villages of Al-Khwaiyn, Zarzur, Atshan, Umm Al-Khalakhil, Tell Maraq, Al-Hussein Farms and Al-Naddaf Farms, in conjunction with ongoing attack on the areas of Al-Hamdania, Al-Salumiya and Al-Jadu’iyya, with intensive shelling on Um Haratayn village in the north-eastern countryside of Hama adjacent the south-eastern countryside of Idlib, accompanied by violent clashes, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the factions achieved advancement in Al-Hamdania, Al-Salumiya and Al-Jadu’iyya in the south-eastern countryside of Idlib, and in Um Haratayn village in the north-east of Hama, while the violent clashes between the both parties, resulted in the fall of human losses in the ranks of the both parties, in which the SOHR documented the death of 16 fighters at least of the factions including 2 commanders who were killed in these violent clashes which have been continuing since this dawn, Thursday the 11th of January 2018, and which are accompanied by intensive shelling by the regime forces warplanes and helicopters, and shelling by missiles and artillery and rocket shells, while members of the regime forces backed by armed militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities were killed and injured during the clashes between them against the factions in the area, while 12 others were captured by the factions.

Thus, the number of the villages which the regime forces controlled in Idlib and Hama countryside since the 22nd of October 2017, has decreased to 155 villages and towns, decreasing to at least 112, the number of the remaining towns and villages of the total areas which the regime forces and their allies controlled since the 25th of December 2017, in which the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published yesterday that the regime forces and their allied managed to expand their controlled villages and towns to at least 117 in the countryside of Idlib since the start of escalation of military operations of the regime forces on the 25th of December 2017, they also expanded their control to 160 villages and towns in the countryside of Idlib and Hama, and they are: Tel Salmo, Zafr Sagher, Zafar Kabir, Al-Dabshiya, Rasm Abed, Talb, Mera’aya, Al-Hisa, Om Jrin, Bayya’a Saghira, Bayya’a Kabira, Jub Abyad, Al-Bowayder, Aqlat Al-Bowayder, Raefah, Aziza, Rasm Nayas, Ras al-Ayn, Rasm Al-Jahsh, Om Tammakh, Rasm Al-Khshuf, Mbawas, Rasm Al-Burj, Rasm Al-Ahmar, Rasm Al-Ayn, al-Jabriya, Khariba, Rasm Al-War, Harmla.
