The forces of the “Olive Branch” Operation continue their attack on Afrin area in order to take the control of border villages and go deeper into the area

The military operations have been continuing in Afrin in the north-western countryside of Aleppo, for the 11th consecutive day since they started  on the 20th of January 2018, in which the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the continuation of the violent clashes between the Syria Democratic Forces against the Turkish forces and the rebel and Islamic factions operating with them within the “Olive Branch” Operation, in areas in Raju, Hamam, Balyeh, Qarna, other areas in Jendires Township, the vicinity of Barsaya Highland, and Qastal Jendo on the northern border of Afrin with Turkey and on the western border with Iskenderun, as a result of the renewed attack of the forces of the “Olive Branch” Operation, in conjunction with the continuation of the rocket and artillery shelling by the Turkish forces on places in Afrin city, amid the flight of Turkish warplanes over Afrin, and the Turkish forces try to advance in the area and take the control of border villages in it enables it to go deep into the area.

 

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored more human losses during the ongoing clashes in the area, where it has increased to 25 at least, the number of fighters of the rebel and Islamic factions operating in “Olive Branch” Operation who were killed in addition to a Turkish fighter, while there are 7 bodies in the battle ground, whose identity is still unknown until now, while at least 26 fighters of the SDF were killed in the shelling and clashes, and the SOHR documented the death of 24 civilians, they are; 21 civilians including 6 children and a woman, who were killed in shelling by the Turkish forces and the Turkish warplanes on Afrin city and the areas of Jilbara and Marimeen and other places in Afrin city, and a young man was killed by a sniper of the “Olive Branch” Operation forces, and a man and his child were killed in shelling by the SDF on towns of Kiljibrin in the northern countryside of Aleppo.
