The Turkish forces shell the districts and the outskirts of Afrin city leaving about 10 wounded and the fighting is accompanied by bombardment on the western and the northern countryside of the city

Afrin city and its countryside is witnessing continuation of the shelling, raids and clashes in it, within Operation “Olive Branch” which the Turkish forces announced about on the 20th of January 2018, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored intensive selling by the Turkish forces on places in the districts of Afrin city and its outskirts, which injured 3 citizens including 3 children, 3 citizen women and an elderly man, and the SOHR also monitored that the Turkish warplanes carried out strikes targeting areas in the south-western countryside of Afrin, and this renewed bombardment comes with the continuation of the Turkish military operation in its 12th consecutive day, as the Turkish forces are seeking through it to impose their control over Afrin area, and the Syrian Observatory published few hours ago, that it has documented since the 20th of January 2018, the death of 67 Syrian citizens of the Kurds, Arabs and Armenians including 20 children and 12 citizen women, who used to live in Afrin area or have been displaced to it in the past years, due to the bombardment by the Turkish warplanes and the shelling by the Turkish forces by shells and missiles, while more than 185 others were injured with varying severity, and the number of casualties may increase because of the presence of serious injuries.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored bombardment targeting Kafr Kar area in the western countryside of Afrin, in conjunction with ongoing violent clashes between the YPG and the Self-Defense forces against the Turkish forces, the groups of the Gray Wolves, and the rebel and Islamic factions, in areas in the villages of Qarnah, Shikhorzah, the vicinity of Abudan, the vicinity of Shenkal and Bak Obasi in the northern countryside of Afrin, in conjunction with clashes on areas in Raju Township in the western section of the area, and information about more human losses due to the artillery and rocket shelling and the exchange of targeting between the both parties.
