About 38% of civilian casualties during 18 days of shelling escalation in the Eastern Ghouta were killed after UNSC resolution and during Putin truce

The regime splits the besieged Ghouta into 2 parts and controls more than 50% of the factions’ controlled areas

Rif Dimashq Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the pace of clashes in the Eastern Ghouta have escalated, with the resumption of ground offensive by the regime forces supported by their allies of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities; led by military advisers and Russian officers, this attack is supported by cover of violent aerial and ground bombardment and shelling, by the missiles of warplanes and barrel bombs of regime’s helicopters, and missiles believed to be the ground-to-ground and the rocket and artillery shells, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the violent clashes taking place in the depth of the Eastern Ghouta; between the regime forces and the militiamen loyal to them against fighters of Jaysh al-Islam and Rahman Corps, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the regime forces achieving a new advancement by controlling Beit Sawa town and its farms and controlling al-Ashari town and its farms as well, and by this advancement; the regime forces have become on the outskirts of Madyara town and Hamouriyah city, they also were able this morning to advance across the southern line of the factions’ controlled areas and reached the outskirts Jesrin town, in addition to advancing in the farms of al-Rihan town, and by that the regime forces have expanded their control in the Eastern Ghouta, and the regime forces with this advancement have become about 1.3 km away of Vehicle Department which is connected with the capital Damascus, and these forces have managed to control 52% of the factions’ controlled areas in the Eastern Ghouta, and they managed to split the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus into 2 parts through the control and firearm-control of the rest of distance between the regime forces at the outskirts of Madyara, the 2 parts: one in the north includes the cities of Douma, Harasta, and the Al-Rihan farms with Mesraba, and the other one in the south and includes the towns and cities of Arbin, Zamalka, Hamouriyah, Saqba, KafrBatna, Ein Tarma and Aftries, and since the beginning of their attack on the 25th of February 2018; the regime forces have taken control of Hosh of al-Dawahra, Tal Farzat, Hazrma, al-Shifonyyah, parts of Al-Rihan farms, Regiment 274, Air Defense Regiment, Ashari, Beit Sawa, Jesrin farms and Hamouriyah farms.

these violent clashes and advancement operations were accompanied by an aerial bombardment on Arbin city and places in Hamouriyah city, and the bombardment of today have killed: 16 citizens in Hamouriyah city including a child, 6 citizens including a woman in aerial bombardment on Saqba city, 10 citizens including 2 children in air raids on Hazza, 4 citizens in the KafrBatna town, 3 citizens including a child in aerial bombardment on Jesrin town, 2 citizens in raids by warplanes on Mesraba town, 2 in the aerial bombardment on Arbin city, a woman in raids on Harasta city and a man in artillery shelling on Douma city, also about 150 others were injured with varying severity, and the death toll is expected to rise because there are some people in critical situation, and due to the presence of missing persons under the rubble of destruction caused by the bombardment, raising to 850, the number of Syrian civilians who were killed in the Eastern Ghouta, including 182 children and 112 women, who have been killed by the aerial, rocket and artillery shelling on the cities and towns of Douma, Harasta, Arbin, Zamalka, Hamouriyah, Jesrin, Kafr Batna, Hazza, Ash’ari, Nashabiyah, Aftries, Otaya, Al-Shifonyyah, Al-Marj area, Mesraba, Madyara, Beit Sawa, and other areas in the besieged Ghouta of Damascus, and the shelling during this period which completed 2 weeks since it started, resulted in the injury of more than 4150 citizens including hundreds of children and citizen women with varying severity, some of them have permanent disabilities, while the bodies of tens of citizens are still under the rubble of destruction caused by the aerial, rocket and artillery shelling by the regime forces on the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, and the total death toll documented by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, includes 318 casualties including 41 children and 32 women who were killed and documented by the SOHR after the resolution of the UNSC, which failed again to stop the killing of the people of the Eastern Ghouta, and the shelling resulted in the fall of hundreds of wounded, where the number of casualties may increase because of the presence of serious injuries, amid the tragic humanitarian situation of the people of Ghouta, who intersected sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory that they do not leave the shelters for fear of the intensive shelling, amid inability of the medical staff to relieve all medical cases.
