4 months of massacre in the besieged Eastern Ghouta leave more than 9 thousand martyrs and injured due to the aerial and ground shelling of about 17500 missiles and barrel bombs

on the 14th of March 2018, the escalation of aerial and artillery shelling on the besieged Eastern Ghouta completed the 4th month on a row, since the beginning of escalation on the 14th of November 2017 by the regime forces and their allies and their warplanes, tanks, and mortar, rocket and artillery shells, in addition to shelling of missiles, believed to be ground-to-ground and sniper bullets and heavy machine guns, which was accompanied in the recent month with a wide-scale military operation by the regime forces led by Russia and supported by air cover, allowed the regime to divide the Eastern Ghouta into 3 pockets. The first pocket is Douma, Al-Rayhan which are controlled by Jaysh Al-Islam, and the second pocket is Harasta, which is controlled by Ahrar Al-Sham Islamic Movement, while the third pocket includes Ein Tarma, Kafrbatna, Hamuriyah, Saqba, Zamlka, Arbin, Jisreen, Hazzah and its farms, increasing the tragic humanitarian conditions and led to further deterioration of the medical and food conditions more than ever, as a result of tightening the siege instead of breaking the siege and sending missiles and bombs instead of sending aid to the Eastern Ghouta, whose injured and sick people are being transferred to the cemeteries instead of transferring them to receive treatment in the hospitals, which lacks medicines, and also turned the injured into a martyr due to the lack of capabilities to deal with the cases and the absence of specialties and lack of medicine in some cases, until the evacuation of civilians from the pocket controlled by Jaysh Al-Islam started day before yesterday.

The SOHR documented the causalities fall due to the barbaric and hysterical shelling, taking place before the whole world and the international communities, which only concentrated on the issues of chemical weapons and gas attacks, and turn a blind eye to the killing by traditional weapons. This killing which caused tens of massacres in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus since the 14th of November 2017, where it increased to 1992 civilians including 426 children below the age of eighteen, and 286 women above the age of eighteen, the number of civilian martyrs who were killed since the 18th of November 2017, in the cities and towns of Douma, Al-Rayyahan, Misraba, Hosh Al-Zawahra, Hosh Al-Zarikiya, Al-Asha’ary, Otaya, Al-Nashabiya, AAl-Shifoniya, Hazrama, Hosh Al-Salihiya, which is controlled by Jaysh Al-Islam, Harasta, which is controlled by Ahrar Al-Sham Islamic Movement, Madyara, Arbin, Jisreen, Hamuriyah, Saqba, Kafrbatna, Al-Aftaris, Hazzah, Ein Tarma, Zamlka, which is controlled by Al-Rahman Corps.

The Syrian Observatory of Human Rights documented the injury of more than 7042 persons including hundreds of children and women as result of the aerial and ground shelling that targeted the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, where the SOHR documented shelling of more than 6180 barrel bombs and airstrikes by warplanes and helicopters of the regime forces and Russia, and shelling of at least 11120 rocket and artillery shells and missiles, believed to be ground to ground, at cities and towns of the eastern Ghouta of Damascus, and caused material damage to the infrastructure and the properties of citizens, as result of being targeted since the 14th of November 2017 until today, where tens of citizens went missing under the rubble caused by the aerial and artillery shelling on the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus over 4 consecutive months, and this shelling also increased the humanitarian condition in the Ghouta which has been besieged for years as the hospitals, services facilities and shops were targeted.
