In the largest attack of its kind in the Capital Damascus, ISIS kill about 100 members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen in Al-Kadam neighborhood

The Red Crescent Teams recover the dead bodies and the regime sacks an intelligence official against the backdrop of this attack

The SOHR learned that the Red Crescent teams entered to Al-Kadam neighborhood in the south of the capital and recovered tens of dead bodies of the regime forces and their allied militiaman, who were killed in an attack by ISIS in the neighborhoods located south of the capital on the 13th of March 2018, where the organization managed to control most of the neighborhood located in the southern part of the capital, and in the details obtained by the SOHR, the death toll of the members of the regime forces and their allied militiaman increased to at least 96 persons, whose dead bodies were recovered and transferred by the Red Crescent to centers located in the regime’s controlled areas. The Red Crescent Team entered the neighborhood following an agreement between the regime and the organization on the evacuation of the dead bodies, and there is no information about the conditions provided by the organization to allow the entry, while reliable sources told the SOHR that the death toll is still expected to be increased due to the presence of more than 30 persons missing, whether they were killed or captured is still unknown.

Meanwhile, the SOHR learned that the regime authorities sacked the head of military intelligence of the area branch, who is in charge of the capital Damascus, following a massacre carried out by the organization against the regime forces, as result of the violent attack that lasted for days and coincided with the exit of tens of buses carrying hundreds of fighters of the factions, their families and civilians rejecting the agreement with the regime forces, who left Al-Kadam neighborhood within the agreement reached with the regime forces.

The capital Damascus witnessed back then sounds of explosion resulted from military operations in the southern part of it, following an attack by ISIS in al-Hajar Al-Aswad and the outskirts of Al-Yarmouk camp, on Al-Kadam neighborhood, and the attack of ISIS coincided with airstrikes targeting Al-Hajar al-Aswad, where Al-Yarmouk camp witnessed weeks ago violent battles between ISIS against Hayaat Tahrir Al-Sham, through which the organization managed to advance, and tens of fighters were killed and injured.

The SOHR monitored preparations are underway by ISIS in Al-Yarmouk camp seems to be for carrying out an attack against Hayaat Tahrir Al-Sham controlled following the withdrawal of the Hayaat within the agreement reached with Al-Rahman Corps and the regime forces, which provides on the evacuation of fighters of Al-Rahman Corps, Tahrir Al-Sham and their families and the rest of Ahrar Al-Sham fighters from Jouber, Arbin, Zamlka to the Syrian north, similar to the attack that took place in Al-Kadam neighborhood on the 13th of March 2018.

The SOHR published yesterday that ISIS returns to life again in the Syrian area, which the organization has limited presence there. After its presence was limited to about 5400 square km of the Syrian territory which is about 2.9% of the area of the Syrian territory, and ending its full presence in the countryside of Hama, Idlib, most of the Syrian desert, and after its presence was limited to enclaves in the eastern desert of Homs and the southeastern desert of Deir Ezzor and the adjacent northern countryside o Deir Ezzor and the southern countryside of Hasaka, and southern Damascus, the SOHR monitored in the past 24 hours that ISIS carried out an attack in the vicinity of l-Sha’afa town, towards the eastern desert of the town located in the eastern banks of the Euphrates River against the US-backed SDF. The attack targeted a position of the SDF stationed in the area, while there is information that the organization controlled the positions and inflicted human losses in the ranks of its rivals, in addition to the human losses in the organization’s ranks. This violent attack of ISIS comes weeks after the control of the organization declined in the eastern banks of the Eupbhrates River, within the towns of Abu Al-Hassan, al-Sha’afa, Al-Baghouz, Al-Bobdara, and its districts, following the entire end of its presence in the western banks of the Euphrates River, where the SDF managed to control most of the east of the Euphrates except for the aforementioned enclave, where reliable sources confirmed to the SOHR that the organization organized its ranks in the recent stage in order to attempt to expand the organization’s controlled areas at the expense of its rivals in its areas of presence.
