US-backed forces begin establishing observation posts along Iraqi border

The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) began establishing military observation posts along the Syrian-Iraqi border, today, the pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) claimed.

According to the SOHR report, the new observation posts will be guarded by the SDF and Iraqi troops.

The establishment of these observation posts come just one week after the SDF seized the key town of Baghouz Tahtani, which effectively cutoff the Islamic State (ISIS) forces along the Euphrates River from the Iraqi border.

The SDF is now working to secure Baghouz Tahtani by clearing the nearby town of Baghouz Fouqani, which is located directly north of the Iraqi border.
