After a massacre of tens of casualties and wounded, “reconciliation” agreement in Nawa and negotiations about the last town under the opposition factions’ control in Daraa

Daraa Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights obtained information from several reliable sources that an agreement was reached on Nawa area, the sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory that the “settlement” that was reached in Nawa area is based on handing over the hills around Nawa town to the regime forces and the withdrawal of the factions, and handing over a part of the heavy and medium weapons and temporarily keeping some of them due to the close proximity to the areas that are controlled by Jaysh Khalid Ibn al-Walid which swore allegiance to the “Islamic State” organization, thereafter, a process of settling the situations of civilians, fighters, and the defected persons who want to settle their situations, and transfer those who refuse the “reconciliation” to the Syrian north, dissidents are chosen between returning to the military service or demobilizing, and granting a six months period to those who are in the age of the compulsory service, the agreement also confirms that the regime forces will not enter Nawa and they will just raise the internationally-recognized flag of the regime in the city, which has the largest people density in Daraa province, and the return of regime’s government institutions, the service institutions, and employees to their work in Nawa city.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also learned that negotiations are taking place about the last town under the control of the factions in Daraa province, where an agreement is expected to be reached after it stayed alone under the control of the opposition factions, whose controlled areas have been reduced since the 19th of June 2018, while the agreement about Nawa city and its surroundings came after a series of raids, helicopter bombardment, and missile shelling by hundreds of strikes that left casualties, where it rose to 15 at least including at least 7 women, the number of people who were killed in the shelling that took place on Tuesday night, the 18th of July 2018 on Nawa city.

The Syrian Observatory published last night that western countryside of Daraa witnessed insane shelling in the past 3 hours of today’s evening, Tuesday the 17th of July 2018, which targeted the areas remaining beyond the regime’s control in the province for the opposition factions, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights; the regime forces targeted by more than 350 missiles and more than 40 explosive barrels and airstrikes, areas in Nawa city and its vicinity as well as the area of Tell Al-Jabiyyah and Tal Al-Jumou’, in a sudden escalation on the last city which is beyond the regime’s control and which has the largest population, in Daraa province, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the intensive shelling resulted in the fall of substantial human losses, where tens of people were killed and injured, amid great difficulty to carry out rescue operations or relief the wounded, as a result of the intensity of shelling, and the difficulty of transporting the wounded to other areas due to monitoring all the roads that connect the city to its vicinity, the SOHR also received information about putting one of the hospitals in the city out of service.
