Two explosions hit Manbij causing material damage

A pair of explosions hit Manbij city and its outskirts early on Sunday morning causing material damage, according to a conflict monitor.

Two explosions rocked different areas in Manbij, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported. There was no information on casualties caused by the improvised-explosive devices (IED) devices and landmines.

The Manbij Military Council did not immediately confirm the explosions.

Unverified posts on social media said “explosve devices targetted MMC yesterday night near the electricity in Manbij, no injuries.”

Last week two explosions hit Sheikh Aqil cemetery in the city which is under the control of the Manbij Military Council.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), comprised mostly of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) liberated Manbij from ISIS after a summer-long operation that concluded in August 2016.

The council is supported by the US-led international anti-ISIS, which is conducting coordinated, but separate patrols with the Turkish military in the northern Syrian city.

The Observatory also reported that regime forces caused material damage in southern Aleppo’s Zammar town and Huwayr village, but no information was available about casualties.
