26 days of continuous military operations in the deserts of al-Suwaidaa and Rif Dimashq leave about 400 casualties of the civilians, the regime forces, local gunmen, and ISIS fighters

Rif Dimashq Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the regime forces continue the military operations against the “Islamic State” organization in the desert of Rif Dimashq adjacent to the administrative border of the countryside of al-Suwaidaa, where clashes continue between both parties at a violent pace in Tlul al-Safa area which is besieged by the regime forces, in continuous attempts to force ISIS to surrender, also the clashes are accompanied by rocket shelling carried out by the regime forces on sites of the “Islamic State” organization occasionally, while attempts are still being made to release the abductees who have been detained by ISIS for the 26th consecutive day, since the deadliest and most violent attack on the countryside of al-Suwaidaa on the 25th of July 2018, which claimed the lives of 258 people, including 142 civilians including 38 children and women, also these efforts coincide with continuous fears for the lives of abductees from reprisals by the “Islamic State” organization, or from regime forces’ shelling which is targeting Tlul al-Safa area on a daily basis.

The continues clashes in the area have left more casualties in the ranks of both parties of the fight, in addition to capturing new members of the organization, and the Syrian Observatory has documented the raise in casualties, where it rose to 105, the number of ISIS members who have been killed in the bombings, shelling and clashes since the 25th of July 2018, while it rose to at least 35, the number of members of the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them who were killed in the same period, also the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented since the attack of ISIS in Al-Suwaidaa countryside on the 25th of July 2018, the death of about 142 citizens including 38 women and children, in addition to the killing of 116 people, the majority of whom were of the gunmen villagers who carried the gun to repel the organization’s attack, and a 19-year-old boy was executed by ISIS after being kidnapped along with about 30 others, and a woman died when she was held by ISIS in conditions that still vague so far.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published yesterday morning that it monitored tension in al-Suwaidaa city against the backdrop of shooting incidents in sporadic areas of the city over the past few hours, where the Syrian Observatory monitored shooting at one of regime’s checkpoints near al-Bohtori gas station, after which two people were killed and others were injured, but no information about the reasons for the shooting yet, while a person was injured by unknown gunmen in al-Khazzanat area in al-Suwaidaa city, this tension came in conjunction with the resentment that has been prevailing the province due to the stall on the lives of the abductees, and as a result of the continued shelling by the regime forces on the area, where the people fear that the shelling may put the lives of those who have been kidnapped for the 25th consecutive day in danger.
