At a Russian request…the regime forces release about 100 citizens descended from an area on the administrative border between Daraa and Al-Suwaidaa weeks after they were arrested
Daraa Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored that the regime forces have released about 100 detainees from Al-Lajat area which is located on the administrative border of Daraa countryside with the countryside of Al-Suwaidaa province, of those who are still held in the regime’s detention centers, after a campaign of arrests targeted them in the wake of the attack witnessed in Al-Suwaidaa province on the 25th of July 2018, and which claimed the lives of at least 258 persons of citizens and gunmen villagers and injured hundreds others with varying severity, and in the wake of the attacks which were witnessed in the area of Khalkhala Military Airbase, and the sources confirmed that this release came at a Russian request to the regime forces.
And the regime forces released on the 15th of September 2018, about 25 detainees of who were arrested in the villages and towns of al-Lajat area in the northern countryside of Daraa Province, adjacent to Khalkhala Airbase area and the northwestern countryside of al-Suwaidaa, and the SOHR confirmed at that time that tens of others remain in custody of regime’s security authorities their fate is unknown, although al-Lajat area witnessed a breakthrough in the security situation in late August 2018, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published that al-Lajat area in the northeastern countryside of Daraa is witnessing a better security conditions, where sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that the regime forces have withdrawn from positions and checkpoints in al-Lajat and other villages, but stayed in some other villages, and on the roads between the villages of al-Lajat area, and even more in areas in the vicinity of al-Lajat area in the northeastern countryside of Daraa, and these withdrawals came after by wide-scale raids and arrests by the regime forces in the past days,
The arrests also resulted in escalating the resentment after gunmen loyal to the regime, sources said that they are decedent from the villages of the north-western countryside of Al-Suwaidaa which is adjacent to Al-Lajat area in the north-eastern countryside of Daraa, had stormed Al-Shiyah village and other areas in its vicinity, and raided the houses, while locals accused these members of abusing and insulting the citizens, in addition to beating and swearing at women and inspecting them in search for money and jewelry, and the Syrian Observatory published on Monday the 6th of August 2018, that the regime forces released about 250 detainees from al-Lajat area in the northeastern countryside of Daraa, out of the 370 who were arrested after a raid on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of August 2018, who were arrested on the pretext of searching for “cells of the Islamic State” organization.
