More than 40 days after the attack that killed 23 of its fighters, Jaysh al-Izza avenges itself and attacks the regime forces within the demilitarized area north of Hama, kills and injures more than 22 of them

Hama Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored an attack carried out by Jaysh al-Izza fighters on Wednesday morning, the 19th of December 2018, against sites of the regime forces and the militiamen loyal to them in the northern countryside Hama, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory: the attack began at 6 am Syria time, where fighters of Jaysh al-Izza attacked one position at least of the regime forces and the militiamen loyal to them in al-Masasneh in the northern countryside of Hama within the demilitarized area, the attack comes in retaliation for the regime’s earlier attack which killed 23 of Jaysh al-Izza more than 40 days ago, and attack of today caused casualties, where the Syrian Observatory documented the killing of at least 7 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them, and wounded more than 15 of them, and the attack left casualties in the ranks of Jaysh al-Izza, and the death toll is expected to rise because there are some people in critical situation, in addition to information about the deaths of others.

The Syrian Observatory published on the 10th of November 2018 that Syrian Observatory monitored the fall of casualties in the ranks of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian nationality; against the backdrop of attacks by Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham in northern countryside of Hama, and in the details monitored by the Syrian Observatory: an experienced group known as al-Asa’eb al-Hamraa’ (the red headbands) within Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham led by Egyptian jihadi Abu al-Yaqzan, was able on Friday evening to infiltrate positions of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them and the 5th Legion which was established by Russia in al-Tarabea’ area south of Halfaya town in the northern countryside of Hama within the demilitarized area, and Tahrir al-Sham through its infiltration were able to kill and injure many members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them, where at least 8 of them were killed and others were injured, which may raise the death toll, this attack come as another one of the violations carried out by the regime forces and Tahrir al-Sham within the demilitarized area, which was agreed upon after the meeting between the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

While the regime forces carried out ambushes and a similar attack targeting Jaysh Al-Izza, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published yesterday that the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them carried out ambushes and attacked positions of Jaysh al-Izza faction in the countryside of Hama, killing and wounding tens of them, in addition to the presence of missing members, and in the details monitored activists of the Syrian Observatory: the regime forces attacked a military point of Jaysh al-Izza on the evening of Thursday, the 8th of this month in al-Zallaqiyyat area southwest of al-Lataminah town in the northern countryside of Hama, where the regime forces were able during the surprise attack to take control of site and inflict casualties in the ranks of Jaysh al-Izza the Syrian Observatory had published in the evening, after that the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them set several ambushes for al-Izzat fighters; while they were trying to regain control of the site they lost at night, exploiting the altitude of the point they controlled which is monitoring several other points in the area, and the Syrian Observatory documented during the clashes which lasted until the morning hours of the 9th of November 2018, SOHR documented the death of more than 23 fighters of Jaysh al-Izza during the ambushes and the clashes, including at least one commander among them, also the clashes and ambushes have left tens of members of Jaysh al-Izza between wounded and missing, which may raise the death toll, and this is the highest death toll in the Syrian north since the beginning of 2018.
