After the return of hundreds and deploying Russian-armed forces, about 85 people defected of the regime from al-Mayadin area return to service in its ranks after “settling their situation”
Deir Ezzor province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that tens of defected people of the regime forces of the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor have “settled” their situation, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory: about 85 people from al-Mayadin city and the surrounding villages, who had earlier defected from the regime forces, have carried out a “settlement” and return again to engage in regime’s army, reliable sources told the Syrian Observatory that the returning people were assembled at dawn of today, Thursday, at the al-Saraya government building in al-Mayadin, and they were taken to Deir Ezzor city to complete the settlement process and join the ranks of the regime forces, and this comes after they entered and exit to and from the Syria Democratic Forces and the regime forces in Deir Ezzor Province, from al-Salhiya crossing on the eastern bank of Euphrates River, opposite to Deir Ezzor city.
The Syrian Observatory published on the 6th of January 2018 that the process of entry and exit to and from these areas through this crossing is carried out on a daily basis by the person’s choice, where residents -most of them staff- returned to regime forces’-controlled areas after they were convinced by cells responsible for “reconciliations,” where staff and residents of Deir Ezzor city and the regime forces’-controlled areas who have previously displaced to the Syria Democratic Forces’ controlled areas; are being persuaded to secure their return the regime forces’-controlled areas through “settling their situation” with the regime, to be allowed to return, where tens of families have returned to regime forces’-controlled areas and to their homes in Deir Ezzor city, after “settling their situation” with the regime and some of the families recruited a member of the family in the ranks of the NDF, in order to protect them from being arrested by the regime, also the sources denied to the Syrian Observatory what the regime forces promoted about entering hundreds of people and securing them, were sources confirmed that the staff are returning after settling their situation and the families do the same settlement, but most of the returnees were arrested, investigated, and imprisoned for varying periods, and the reliable sources also said that young men and men are being taken to the conscription and reserve services after being arrested, although their situation was settled, where tens of arrests were carried out against citizens, some of whom were taken to the conscription recruitment and other for the reserve service in regime’s ranks, while others have been released and others are still detained by the regime forces, who claim to have secured hundreds of civilians and provided them a favor, while reliable sources confirmed that opening the crossing between regime forces’-controlled areas and the Syria Democratic Forces’ controlled areas was carried out by Russian coordination and mediation.
