Five children among at least 51 killed in Syrian regime airstrikes
Beirut, Feb 3 (EFE).- Five children were among at least 51 people who were killed in aerial raids carried out by Syrian regime forces in different parts of the country, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, SOHR, reported on Tuesday.
The London-based NGO said another 110 individuals were wounded when regime aircraft dropped 78 barrel bombs on targets in the provinces of Rif Dimashq, Idlib, Aleppo, Daraa, Lattakia, Hama and Deir Ezzor on Monday.
Earlier, the observatory noted that at least 461 people died and more than 1,000 were wounded in January in Syrian air attacks in different provinces.
Over 200,00 people have ben killed since the Syrian Civil War broke out in March, 2011, according to figures verified by the United Nations.
Last year, the U.N. Security Council adopted a resolution calling on all parties to immediately cease attacks against civilians, halt aerial bombings of populated areas and the use of barrel bombs.
