Amid slow advancement of SDF and the Coalition along with the participation of the Popular Mobilization Forces, the last of what remain for ISIS witnesses violent clashes, intensive shelling, renewed targeting, and the detonation of booby-trapped vehicles
Deir Ezzor Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored continuous shelling targeted the remaining area for the “Islamic State” Organization at the east bank of Euphrates River, by the Syria Democratic and the International Coalition Forces, which Intensively targeted using artillery and rocket shells and heavy machineguns the remaining areas of the Organization, in conjunction with shelling by the International Coalition warplanes for the same sites, amid violent clashes between the “Islamic State” Organization against the Syria Democratic Forces, in areas at the vicinity and outskirts of what is left for the Organization, reliable sources confirmed that last night’s hours witnessed a booby-trapped car bomb attack drove by a suicidal member of the Organization, gotten out and headed towards an SDF site, and reliable sources confirmed that targeting it with machine guns did not succeed in detonating it, prompting the Popular Mobilization Forces from the Iraqi side to target it before it reaches SDF site by a missile which hit the booby-trapped car and destroyed it, where time did not help SDF members to target the car by a missile, and these operations are taking place within the continued pressure by International Coalition on the Organization to surrender, and the intensive shelling since the evening of Sunday the 10th of February until now; were accompanied by slow advancement of the Coalition and SDF, as a result of the intensity of the planted mines and the existence of tunnels for the Organization, and the sniping operations carried out by ISIS members, in addition to the presence of civilians who are still present in the remaining area of the Organization east of the river, where the Organization continues to take them as human shields to prevent the International Coalition from bombarding it, while ISIS leaders in the area continue to refuse to surrender to the International Coalition; which holds a list of names it wants to catch alive in this pocket.
The Syrian Observatory published last night that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the escalation of the military operation by the International Coalition and the Syria Democratic Forces against the remaining areas of the “Islamic State” organization at the eastern banks of the Euphrates River, in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, and the SOHR learned that the recent hours witnessed heavy shelling by the International Coalition and the SDF by artillery and rocket shells as well as bombardment by the International Coalition warplanes on the remaining areas of the organization, with an area of less than 3 square km, as a part of a continued pressure by the Coalition and the SDF on the organization, to force it to surrender, and this pressure is coincided with an attempt to achieve further advancement by the attacking ground forces, to clamp down on the organization even more, and reduce the areas remaining for it, after they managed today, Saturday the 10th of February 2019, to reduce the scope of ISIS control to less than 3 square km through advancing into the farm spaces around the enclave.
The Syrian Observatory published today, the Syria Democratic Forces managed with the International Coalition to advance in the empty space and the agricultural area in the remaining enclave of the Organization at the east bank of Euphrates River, clamping down on the Organization and the tunnels it uses, pushing it to go back to the remaining residential areas, while the “Islamic State” Organization continues to take civilians as human shields to prevent the International Coalition from shelling it, despite the continued overflights of the International Coalition warplanes over the remaining enclave of the Organization, and the reliable sources told the Syrian Observatory that the Coalition and the Syria Democratic Forces through this attack are putting pressure on the Organization in order for it to hand over its remaining commanders and members, while fears increase on the lives of hundreds of families remaining in the enclave, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published yesterday that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the continuation of military operations in the eastern sector of Deir Ezzor countryside, which was resumed by the International Coalition Forces and the Syria Democratic Forces against the last enclave of the “Islamic State” Organization which is about 4 square kilometers located on the east banks of Euphrates River; by the evening of Saturday, the 9th of February 2019, and the reliable sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory that the Coalition and SDF aim through this operation to put pressure over the remaining leaders and members of the “Islamic State” Organization of different nationalities, to hand themselves over before they die in the operations that aim to ending their presence all over the east of Euphrates area, and the Syrian Observatory learned that hundreds of families are still exist in what is left for the organization east of the river, amid serious fears for their lives especially if the International Coalition resumed the aerial bombardment on the last 4 km² of the organization.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published yesterday that barely 48 hours elapsed on ISIS promises for the remaining members and their families located within the last 4 km² controlled by it in the east of Euphrates, until the operation to thwart it began, through an attack monitored by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights a few hours ago on of today, Saturday, the 9th of February 2018, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory: the Syria Democratic Forces supported by ground and air forces of the International Coalition started on Saturday evening to target what is left for the Organization on the east bank of Euphrates River in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, breaking in what is left of areas for it, and this attack by SDF and the Coalition was accompanied by the flight of the International Coalition warplanes over the area and careful advancement as a result of the mines planted by the Organization in the vicinity of the enclave under its control, and reliable sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory that the International Coalition aims through this attack; to completely end the existence of the Organization in the area, after the negotiations that took place between the Coalition and the Organization, after the request of ISIS members and remaining leaders to surrender in exchange for providing a safe passage by the Coalition towards unknown area, which prompted the Organization to make promises to those who remained with it to open a corridor from the enclave.
The Syrian Observatory learned that several leaders of the “Islamic State” Organization managed to open a corridor towards areas west of Euphrates River, amid reports of shelling those who got out and the infiltrators across Euphrates River to the western bank, to where the Iranian Forces and their loyal militias are present, and the Syrian Observatory published hours ago that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that violent clashes took place during the last hours of the night in the eastern sector of Deir Ezzor countryside, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory: a group of the “Islamic State” Organization consists of 12 members attacked sites of the Syria Democratic Forces in the vicinity of al-Omar field, where violent clashes took place between both parties, since the midnight of yesterday until the dawn of today Saturday, the 9th of February, where the Syria Democratic Forces were able to repel the attack and prevented the Organization from sneaking into the field, while the clashes were accompanied by the flight of International Coalition warplanes in the sky of the area and targeting the attacking group, killing 10 members of the group while the two others managed to flee, raising to 1279, the number of members and leaders of the “Islamic State” Organization, who were killed in the clashes, detonations and raids, while it rose to 678, the number of fighters of the Syria Democratic Forces who have been killed since the 10th of November 2018, also it rose to 401 people including 144 children and 86 citizen women (including 233 Syrian citizens including 99 children and 57 women of Syrian nationality) the number of civilians killed since the 10th of December 2018, also the “Islamic State” Organization had executed more than 713 detainees, of who were arrested on various charges including security members and members of the Organization who tried to break away of it and escape its controlled areas.
