Escalating exchange of artillery and missile shelling leaves new casualties and wounded after killing tens of civilians in the last week of both presidents’ agreement

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on the 19th of February 2019, that the areas of the escalation within the demilitarized zone, witnessed a massive wave of displacement, particularly in both northern and western countryside of Hama and both southern and south-eastern countryside of Idlib, where the Syrian Observatory confirmed that 90% of the population of Qal’aat al-Madiq town and villages of Sahl al-Ghab in the western countryside of Hama province, left their towns and villages due to the intensity of shelling they have been subjected to, since the 14th of February 2019, the SOHR also documented the displacement of hundreds of families of Kafr Zita and Al-Lataminah towns in the northern countryside of Hama, in addition to the cities of Khan Shaykhun, Al-Tah and Al-Taman’aa in the southern countryside of Idlib province, where the total number reached about 2000 families, from all the areas of both northern and western countryside of Hama and both southern and south-eastern countryside of Idlib, all of these families were displaced between the 14th and 19th of February 2019, due to the escalation by the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them, of heavy ground shelling that is still continuing, along with the continuation of the waves of displacement and the fall of casualties and injuries among the citizens, where via the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, some of locals in Jabal Shashabo area in the western countryside of Hama have sent a call for help to stop the dangerous escalation on their villages and towns, and they borne the Turkish side the responsibility to stop the shelling considering that it is the guarantor of the de-escalation area.b
