Syrian army says foils rebels’ attack in Latakia Province

The Syrian army said on Sunday that its forces repelled rebels’ attack in the country’s northwestern province of Latakia, Trend reported citing Xinhua.

The rebels attempted to attack military positions in the northern countryside of Latakia, which prompted the Syrian army to respond.

During the one-hour clashes, two Syrian soldiers were wounded and many of the rebels were killed, according to the report.

It is the second attack launched by the rebels on Sunday. Earlier in the day, the rebels attacked military positions in the central province of Hama.

The army said it foiled the attack in the northern countryside of Hama.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a London-based war monitor, said 30 Syrian soldiers were killed in the Hama attack.
