The SDF continue their shelling and targeting within Al-Baghuz farms after their advancement into the area has been stalled due to the density of planted mines

Deir Ezzor Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored ongoing shelling and targeting by the Syria Democratic Forces on the positions of the remaining members of the “Islamic State” organization in Al-Baghuz farms in the eastern sector of Deir Ezzor countryside, and the ongoing shelling comes after the decline of advancement process by the SDF in the area due to the density of landmines that ISIS members planted in Al-Baghuz farms, where the SOHR published hours ago, that it monitored the decrease of clashes between the Syria Democratic Forces supported by the International Coalition against the remainder members of the “Islamic State” Organization, in Baghuz farm area in the eastern sector of Deir Ezzor countryside, the reliable sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory that the last hours witnessed the retreat of Syria Democratic Forces and the stop of their slow advancement; as a result of the intensity of mines planted by the Organization, as well as the sniping operations and targeting by the Organization from its areas of presence, against the advancing forces, also the SDF retreated out of fear of the Organization’s counterattacks using booby-trapped vehicles or suicide bombers, while the Syrian Observatory published this morning that the the Syrian Observatory monitored continuous violent clashes between the Syria Democratic Forces supported by the International Coalition; against the remaining members of the “Islamic State” Organization, in places in Baghuz farms area in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor near the eastern banks of Euphrates River, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory: the Syria Democratic Forces managed to advance and arrived to the outskirts of al-Baghuz camp from the northern side, where these forces are trying to clamp down on the rest of the Organization, its members, and their families, in order to surrender and exit towards the Syria Democratic Forces’ controlled areas, while the clashes during the hours of last night until now were accompanied by ground and aerial bombardments by the Coalition and the Syria Democratic Forces, and confirmed information about casualties in the ranks of both parties, and the Syrian Observatory published yesterday night that the “Islamic State” organization with its remaining members and commanders, are still withstanding in Al-Baghuz farms, within the eastern sector of Deir Ezzor countryside, near the eastern banks of the Euphrates River, where since it retreated to these farms and its tunnels, trenches and camp, on the 23rd of January 2019, they have been still getting out in batches after the exit of the organization and the citizens remaining with it as well as its members and families, had escalated in early December 2018, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the exit of 61760 persons from Al-Baghuz farms and the enclave where the organization had been present before it was cornered in this area, including about 6870 members of the organization, mostly Iraqis, handed themselves over to the Syria Democratic Forces, and since the 19th of December 2018, the date of the US decision to withdraw its forces from Syria and the east of the Euphrates, the SOHR has documented the exit of more than 59760 persons towards the SDF-controlled areas.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented since the beginning of 2019, the exit of 50310 persons including 6370 ISIS members, while the SOHR has documented since the 23rd of January 2019, the date of finishing the presence of the organization in the towns and villages of the east Euphrates and its retreat towards the tunnels and trenches it previously prepared in the area of Al-Baghuz farms, the exit of 34810 persons including 5100 ISIS members, in addition to about 470 other members who have been handed over to the Iraqi authorities, as well as 142 families who have been smuggled to the Turkish territory and the controlled areas of the operation “Euphrates Shield” in the north-eastern countryside of Aleppo, including 160 members of the “Islamic State” organization, also the Syrian Observatory learned that during the past days and weeks about 300 ISIS members managed to infiltrate through the Euphrates River to the largest and last remaining enclave of the Organization in the Syrian Desert within the areas that are controlled by the regime forces, Russians, and the Iranians in north of Palmyra.

The Syrian Observatory published today the 17th of March 2019, that the farms of Al-Baghuz are still witnessing continued military operations, whether through violent clashes or skirmishes between the Syria Democratic Forces and the International Coalition on one hand, against what remained of the members of the “Islamic State” organization on the other, through targeting by the former to the area, or through bombardment, or all of them together, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored today, Sunday the 17th of March 2019, that the International Coalition warplanes carried out strikes on the area of Al-Baghuz farms and the outskirts of its camp, which caused a massacre that claimed the lives of 12 persons they are: 5 children and 7 women, in addition to the injury of others with varying severity, and the number of casualties may increase because of the presence of serious injuries, and the Syrian Observatory published that the identities of figures of the “Islamic State” Organization who are getting out of Baghuz farms in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor are still unfolding, where the tunnels and trenches which were dug by detainees taken unlawfully in different ready charges, or as a result of surprise attacks by ISIS with the aim of capturing the largest number of the people or fighters in addition to inflicting significant casualties in the ranks of the organization’s opponents in different areas, and as many of the men who got outside of the Organization’s enclave claim that they came to trade or work, the Kurdish intelligence and the Syria Democratic Forces worked on sorting the fighters and investigate the rest to identify the fighters and transfer them to jails and prisons of Syria Democratic Forces, and of the figures who the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights discover during the exit of thousands of fighters since December 2018; the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the commander in the “Islamic State” Organization Abu Yousef al-Maghribi (which means “the Moroccan”), who came out within the recent batches after the 16th of February 2019, where reliable sources of the Syrian Observatory and the Observatory’s activists confirmed that the al-Maghribi was one of the important assistants in digging tunnels of the” Islamic State” Organization within its control areas in Deir Ezzor, where Abu Yousef al-Maghribi was responsible for bringing youths, men, and captives to the tunnels on various charges, to dig tunnels that the Organization still holed up in today and fear getting out of the area, also al-Maghribi was responsible for the operations of lashing young men and carrying out the “Hudud” within al-Mayadin area and other areas at Deir Ezzor countryside, and the sources confirmed that al-Maghribi has a bad reputation that his record is full of violations and crimes within the “Islamic State” organization’s-controlled areas.

This Moroccan leader is considered as a part of large number of ISIS members who appeared in videos, while the Syrian Observatory monitored women from the Organization’s families who were working as fighters and security members, and they were talking about the Organization as a “Califate State,” and the Syrian Observatory published hours ago that the agricultural lands of Baghuz on the east banks of Euphrates River are witnessing the continuation of operations by the Syria Democratic Forces targeting areas where the tunnels and trenches of the remainder ISIS members are present in farmland there.
