US airstrikes ‘kill 200 fighters and civilians in Baghouz’
About 200 fighters from the Islamic State (ISIS) and their families, mostly women and children, were reportedly killed over the night between Tuesday and Wednesday by airstrikes conducted by the US-led anti-ISIS coalition. Reports were from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), which noted that the victims’ bodies were buried in mass graves in the Baghouz plain. SOHR cited sources on the ground and said that the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and US forces are not allowing the media to verify independently what has happened in the past 24 hours in the ISIS camp in Baghouz, which was officially reported as having been cleared on Tuesday.
