Several Turkish soldiers allegedly killed in fierce battle with SDF troops

A number of Turkish Army soldiers were allegedly killed in a fierce battle with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the northern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate, Fars News reported, citing local sources.

The Iranian publication also claimed that several members of the Turkish-backed National Liberation Front were involved in clashes with the SDF at Al-Malkiyeh in western Aleppo.

“Tough fighting broke out between the Ankara-backed National Army and the SDF fighters in al-Malekiyeh battlefront,” Fars News claimed, citing sources close to the Kurdish forces.

Corraborating these claims by Fars News was the London-based Syrian Observatory of Human Rights (SOHR), who also reported that several Turkish Army soldiers have been killed in guided missile attacks by the Kurdish forces.

While the casualty claim cannot be verified by Al-Masdar, there have been several reports of intense clashes at the Al-Malkiyeh front.

These latest reports came at the same time the Kurdish language Hawar News Agency (ANHA) reported the Turkish Army had begun digging trenches near the SDF-held town of Kobani in northeast Aleppo.

They claimed the Turkish Amy has turned civilian homes into bases inside the villages of Kouk Tappa and Upper Ashmeh.

“The Turkish Army is also constructing trenches in the surrounding areas of the villages,” the Hawar News Agnecy added.
