More raids and barrel bombs fall over the “de-escalation” areas on the 18th day of the heaviest escalation ever causing more casualties and injuries in Maarrat al-Nu’man
The Syrian Observatory monitored the decrease of airstrikes by the Russian warplanes and regime’s warplanes and helicopters, where the regime’s warplanes carried out several raids on areas in Maarrat al-Nu’man city, Kafrsajna, and al-Kabina in the northern countryside of Latakia, which killed a man and his child in Maarrat al-Nu’man city and wounded others, in conjunction with dropping more barrel bombs by helicopters on areas in the villages of Abdeen and Ariniyyeh, amid shelling by the regime forces on the towns of Bidama and al-Najeya in the western countryside of Jisr al-Shughur, but other than that, the cautious calm prevail areas of the Russian – Turkish truce on the 18th day of the most violent escalation ever, and with more air strikes it rose to 65 at least, the number of air raids carried out by regime’s warplanes targeting the countryside of Hama, Idlib, and Latakia since Friday morning, and they are 17 on Kabani area in Jabal al-Akrad, 11 on the clash areas in Sahl al-Ghab and Jabal Shahshabbu, 5 on Kafr Zita north of Hama, 3 on the outskirts and vicinity of Khan Shaykhun, 3 on al-Ankawi, and 2 raids on each of Baraboo, Arinbeh, Maarrat al-Nu’man, Kafrsajna, al-Naqir, Tremla, Mdaya, Hish, al-Hbit, al-Faqea and its outskirts, Kafr Ain, and Karsa’a, also it rose to 35, the number of barrel bombs dropped by helicopters since this morning, they are 14 on Kabani, 12 on the clash areas in Sahl al-Ghab and Jabal Shashabo, 3 on al-Lataminah and its vicinity, 2 on Tremla, Arinbeh, and Abdeen.
And with the fall of more casualties, it rose to at least 474, the number of people who were killed since the 30th of April 2019, the date of start of the most violent escalation in terms of aerial and ground bombardment, shelling, and targeting since Putin – Erdogan agreement, and they are: 154 civilians including 28 children and 33 citizen women, and they are 33 including 7 female children and 9 women, another woman and two of her children, were killed in Russian aerial bombardment on the countryside of Idlib and Hama, and 25 including 7 women and a child girl were killed in the fall of barrel bombs, and 47 including 8 women, 8 children, and a member of the rescue teams were killed in targeting by regime’s warplanes, also 29 people including 5 women and a child were killed in a ground shelling carried out by the regime forces, and 20 citizens including 9 children and 3 women were killed in shelling by the factions on al-Suqaylabiyah, while at least 168 of the jihadi groups were killed in the Russian airstrikes and the regime’s shelling, in addition to the killing of 150 members of the regime forces in targeting and shelling by jihadi groups and factions.
And with the fall of more casualties, the death toll rises in the heaviest continuous escalation on its 28th day, to 627 people in the period since the morning of the 20th of April 2019, until the 17th of May 2019, they are 206 civilians including 43 children and 44 women, were killed in the Russian air bombardment and regime forces’ shelling on areas in Aleppo, Hama, Latakia, and Idlib, including 24 civilians casualties including 9 children and 4 citizen women were killed in the fall of shells launched by the factions on Aleppo city, al-Hadir town south of Aleppo, al-Khandeq village, and al-Suqaylabiyah town in Hama countryside, and 19 people were killed in the explosion of a truck loaded with high-explosive materials owned by the jihadi groups in Jisr al-Shughur city west of Idlib, and 186 of the jihadi groups and the factions were killed in attacks and clashes against the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them, and 216 of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them were killed in attacks by the jihadi groups on several areas of the demilitarized area.
And during the period between the 15th of February 2019 and the 15th of May 2019, the date of the meeting of “Rouhani – Erdogan – Putin” until today, the 17th of May 2019, the Syrian Observatory documented the death of 1003 people in the Russian – Turkish truce areas, they are 444 civilians including 113 children under the age of eighteen and 102 woman over the age of eighteen, they were killed in the Russian aerial bombardment and the rocket shelling by the regime forces and the factions, and among the death toll of civilians there are 48 people including 15 children under the age of eighteen and 9 citizen women over the age of eighteen, they were killed in the fall of shells launched by the factions, and 254 fighters were killed in different conditions within the demilitarized area since Putin – Erdogan agreement, including 158 fighters of the “Jihadis” and 305 of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them.
While the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented since the start of the Russian – Turkish truce the death of 1233 people in areas of Erdogan – Putin agreement, they are: 525 civilians including 145 children and 114 women, were killed in shelling by the regime forces and the militiamen loyal to them, targeting, and bombardment by warplanes, and among them there are 51 people including 15 children and 8 women, were killed in the fall of shells launched by the factions, and 321 fighters were killed in deferent circumstances within the demilitarized area since Putin – Erdogan agreement, including 173 of the “Jihadi” fighters and 23 fighters of Jaysh al-Izza, who were killed in ambushes and clashes including a commander at least, they were killed in ambushes and attack by the regime forces in the northern countryside of Hama, and 387 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them.
