Syria: Israel has attacked military positions

Israel on Wednesday reportedly attacked military positions in southern Syria, causing material damage, according to Syrian State-run news agency Sana. The attack reportedly took place on the hills of al-Harra and Syria’s defense system intercepted some missiles, the news agency said, stressing that ”after the attack” Israel started blocking Syrian military radars.

According to the UK-based monitoring group Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which has a wide network of sources and informers on the ground, the attack hit the tallest hill in the region between the Syrian Golan and the countryside south of Damascus. The Israeli attack targeted batteries of missiles of loyalist and pro-Iranian troops a few kilometers from the line of armistice between Israel and Syria in 1974. No victims have so far been reported and it is impossible to independently verify reports on the ground. This would be the third Israeli attack in Syria in a few days and the last by the Jewish State in the Arab country at war where Iran and Russia have military influence.
