Rocket shelling that is not known whether it was carried out by the International Coalition or by the Russians, targets a meeting of Hurras al-Din organization in the western countryside of Aleppo leaving casualties and wounded including 2 commanders in the organization

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned from reliable sources that 2 commanders of Hurras al-Din organization were killed as a result of rocket shelling that targeted a meeting of them in Rif Al-Muhandiseen suburb in the western countryside of Aleppo, and it is not known whether the shelling was carried out by the International Coalition or by Russian missiles, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights; the targeting took place today at 4:20 pm and resulted in the killing of 2 commanders one of whom is Algerian and the other is Tunisian, in addition to the injury of at leas 14 other fighters and commanders who were attending the meeting, the shelling also caused substantial material damage in the targeted place, without information about the background of the meeting.

Hurras Al-Din was founded in late February 2018, at that time, it was a jihadi faction within Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, but after Tahrir Al-Sham announced the disbanding of its ties with Al Qaeda in July 2016, the faction announced its separation due to the latter’s loyalty to Al Qaeda and its leader, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, then Jaysh Al-Badiyah, Jaysh Al-Sahel, Sariyat Kabul, Saraya Al-Sahel, Jaysh Al-Malahem and Jund Al-Shariea all joined Hurras Al-Din, which turned this faction into a weighty organization in the province of Idlib and its surroundings in Hama and Latakia, and it was not long until many commanders of Tahrir Al-Sham of those who are loyal to Al Qaeda and who rejected the decision of their commander, Abu Mohammad Al-Julani, of disbanding Tahrir Al-Sham’s ties with Al Qaeda, joined the organization, then Hurras Al-Din pledged allegiance to Al Qaeda and announced their loyalty to Ayman Al-Zawahiri, after that, many commanders of Tahrir Al-Sham joined Hurras Al-Din, thus, the number of its gunmen reached nearly 1800 members, mostly are from the Arabian Jazeera (Arabian Desert), and they are called “Al-Jazerawiyyah”, the organization and after its formation in April 2018, carried out the first operation by itself against the Syrian regime forces north of Hama province, and the members of the organization are currently present in the mountains of the west of Idlib, Jabal Barisha and Sarmin city, the organization rejected Sochi agreement about Idlib and considered it as a “great conspiracy”, and likened it to what happened in Bosnia, where a commander in the organization said about the “disarmament deal” in Bosnia; “after the Muslims handed over their weapons, the Serbs killed them before the forces of the United Nations”.
