Turkish soldier killed, 3 wounded in Syrian attack

One Turkish soldier was reportedly killed and three others wounded on Thursday by Syrian shelling on a Turkish military position in northern Syria, a war monitor reported.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the Syrian forces fired three times throughout the day on a Turkish surveillance point in the town of Sheir Maghar in the northwestern countryside of Hama province.

It said the evening shelling killed a Turkish soldier and wounded three others, two of them in a critical condition.

The Turkish forces maintain several monitoring points in northern Syria as part of the de-escalation zones deal established with Russia in September 2018.

The Syrian army has been targeting the rebel positions in Hama and Idlib provinces for two months as the al-Qaida-linked groups did not observe the de-escalation zones deal.
