The Syrian Observatory For Human Rights

In the biggest offensive since the regime took control of Khan Shaykhun and the northern countryside of Hama, the factions and jihadi groups carry out a violent attack on areas east of Khan Shaykhun

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored violent clashes in several areas in the eastern countryside of Idlib, between the regime forces and the militias loyal to them against the rebel and Islamic factions and Hurras al-Dien Organization and Ansar al-Tawhid, in a violent and widespread attack carried out by the latter on areas of al-Sallumiyah, and al-Jadu’eiyah, Tal Maraq, and Shamm al-Hawa east of Khan Shaykhun city and al-Taman’aa, began with intensive and violent ground shelling, while the regime forces are trying to counter the attack with support from warplanes, helicopters, and the Russian warplanes, in addition to intensive and mutual ground bombardment, amid damage and destruction the Syrian Observatory documented heavy casualties as a result of the violent clashes there, where 23 members of the regime forces and militias loyal to them were killed, and 20 fighters including 13 of the Jihadis were killed, and the death toll is expected to rise because there are some people in critical situation, in addition to information about other casualties.

In the same context, the Syrian Observatory documented the killing of 8 fighters in targeting by snipers of the regime forces, after an infiltration operation by the latter in Tal blood area east of Idlib Province, and in a related context, the Russian warplanes carried out several raids on Kabani area in the northern countryside of Latakia.

And with the fall of more casualties, it rose to at least 3951, the number of people who were killed since the 30th of April 2019, the date of start of the most violent escalation in terms of aerial and ground bombardment, shelling, and targeting since Putin – Erdogan agreement, until the 27th of August 2019, and they are: 1004 civilians including 248 children and 177 citizen women, and they are 222 including 44 children and 43 women, and 8 of the civil defense and 5 of the ambulance team were killed in Russian aerial bombardment on the countryside of Idlib and Hama, and 79 including 16 women and 13 children were killed in the fall of barrel bombs, and 513 including 144 children, 85 women, and 5 members of the rescue teams were killed in targeting by regime’s warplanes, also 110 people including 20 women and 21 children were killed in a ground shelling carried out by the regime forces, and 80 citizens including 26 children and 14 women were killed in shelling by the factions on al-Suqaylabiyah, Qamhana, Al-Rasif, Al-Aziziyah, Karnaz, Jurin, Al-Nairab Camp, neighborhoods in Aleppo city and its southern countryside, while at least 1587 fighters were killed in the Russian airstrikes and the regime’s aerial and ground shelling including 1046 of the Jihadis, in addition to killing of 1360 members of the regime forces in targeting and shelling by jihadi groups and factions.

And during the period between the 15th of February 2019; the date of the meeting of “Rouhani – Erdogan – Putin” until the 27th of August 2019, and Syrian Observatory documented the death of 4479 people in the Russian – Turkish truce areas, they are 1289 civilians including 330 children under the age of eighteen and 241 women over the age of eighteen, they were killed in the Russian aerial bombardment and the rocket shelling by the regime forces and the factions, and among the death toll of civilians there are 106 people including 31 children under the age of eighteen and 18 citizen women over the age of eighteen, they were killed in the fall of shells launched by the factions, and 1673  fighters were killed in different conditions within the demilitarized area since Putin – Erdogan agreement, including 1081 fighters of the “Jihadis” and 1517 of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them.

While the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented since the start of the Russian – Turkish truce the death of 4709 people in areas of Erdogan – Putin agreement, they are: 1372 civilians including 359 children and 255 women, were killed in shelling by the regime forces and the militiamen loyal to them, targeting, and bombardment by warplanes, and among them there are 107 people including 31 children and 19 women, were killed in the fall of shells launched by the factions, and 1738 fighters were killed in deferent circumstances within the demilitarized area since Putin – Erdogan agreement, including 1183 of the “Jihadi” fighters, and 1597 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them.
