Car bomb goes off in rebel-held area in Syria’s Afrin

A car bomb went off Tuesday in the northern Afrin in the countryside of Aleppo province, leaving one person killed and 11 others wounded, a war monitor reported.

The explosive-laden car exploded in the city of Jendaris in the countryside of Afrin, a predominately Kurdish enclave controlled by the Turkey-backed rebels, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The state TV also reported the explosion without giving details.

The area has seen several explosions since it fell to the Turkish-led rebels in March 2018.

The area had been controlled by the Kurdish militias, mainly the People’s Protection Units, which is regarded as a terror group by Turkey.

Several explosions have rocked the city since it fell to the Turkey-backed rebels.

Around 350,000 people were displaced from Afrin when the Ankara-backed rebels took control. Enditem
