The Syrian Observatory For Human Rights

In conjunction with the continuation of killing under torture in the regime’s prisons…the SOHR renews its demands to disclose the fate of tens of thousands of detainees and missing people including Khalil Ma’touq, Abdulaziz al-Khair and Hussein Iso

At the time when the incidents of killing under torture continue in the Syrian regime’s basements, and as the number of documented casualties who are killed recently under torture increases, after the regime’s intelligence acknowledged the killing of detainees in their prisons and that they informed their relatives, the fate of tens of thousands of missing people inside the regime’s detention centers is still unknown until now, without disclosing their fate, including the prominent lawyer, Khalil Ma’touq, who was arrested in October 2012, Dr. Abdulaziz al-Khair who was arrested in 2012, and Hussein Iso who was arrested in 2011.

We at the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, and with the killing of more civilians who have been detained and the cases of enforced disappearance in prisons of the regime’s forces and intelligence, we demand disclosure of the fate of tens of thousands of missing people and the handing over of the bodies of those who have been killed under torture, to their relatives, we also demand to disclose the fate of the detainees of opinion and conscience imprisoned in the regime’s prisons and jails, the most prominent of whom are Khalil Ma’touq, Abdulaziz al-Khair, Faten Rajab, and Hussein Iso as well as tens of intellectuals and defenders of freedom of opinion, in addition to tens of thousands of those who share in the same circumstances and fate.

We at the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, beside our demands to disclose the fate of thousands of detainees in the regime’s prisons, call on the international community, the relevant International Courts and the active international parties to work diligently and earnestly, in order to unveil the fate of thousands of cased of enforced disappearance before the Syrian, regional and international public opinion and before their relatives, we also call on the International Courts to work on bringing the criminals who participated in the killing, their leaders and instigators to competent courts, so that they get their punishment for their crimes against the innocent Syrians whose only guilt was that they demanded freedom, democracy, justice and equality, and revolted against a dictatorial regime that has ruled the country with killing, death and violating human rights for decades.

And the SOHR published on the 28th of September 2019, that it documented the death of a citizen under torture from Beit Sahem town south of Damascus, where he was killed inside the Branch 235 known as “Filastin” Branch, after being arrested on a security checkpoint about 6 years ago, and with the death of more people a day after another, the SOHR’s statistics indicate the rise of the number of casualties who were killed under torture by the regime to 16124 civilians casualties by names, they are: 15935 men and young men, 125 children under the age of eighteen, and 64 women over the age of eighteen out of 104000 people of whom the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that they were killed inside the branches.
