Decision of the “Economy Ministry of the Rescue Government” to reduce the weight of the bread “bag” receives popular anger in Idlib Province and the surrounding countryside

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the “Economy Ministry of the Rescue Government” issued a decision to reduce the weight of the bread bag from 900 grams to 800 grams, and the “ministry” attributed this reduction so that it does not have to raise the specified price of 200 Syrian pounds, while sources told the Syrian Observatory that this decision came after daily complaints by the “private furnaces” due to the high exchange rate of the U.S. dollar against the Syrian pound, while the prices of gasoline -which is the main operator of bakeries- and fuel in general are witnessing a significant rise, but without any reason for this rise, and according to the information received by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the process of entering fuel is running normally without any obstacles causing its rise.

Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham works in cooperation with the “Watad” company close to it, to provide fuel for areas at the northwest of Syria and to control prices uniquely without the presence of a competitor, and Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham controls Bab al-Hawa crossing and imposes royalties on the entry of flour into Idlib, where the Bread is considered partially supported by some relief organizations, where the bag of bread is sold at the price of 150 Syrian pounds, but this kind of support is not enough for all the needs of the population, but the price of the bread bag is more than 200 Syrian pounds in general, also the sources added to the Syrian Observatory that this decision met wide resentment among the people, considering it to be an inconsiderate decision, just like all other decisions of the “Rescue Government.”
