Idlib witnesses popular resentment and demonstrations in solidarity with Kafr Tkharim’s locals against the policy of Tahrir Al-Sham

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored demonstrations in both Idlib city and Maarrat Al-Nu’man, in solidarity with the locals of Kafr Tkharim town which has been witnessing security alertness for 48 hours.

The cities in the North have been witnessing widespread resentment against Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham due to its policy of repression against its opponents.

SOHR published hours ago, that it monitored a demonstration including tens of people in Kafrouma town south of Idlib, in solidarity with the locals of Kafr Takharim town and condemnation of storming the town by “Tahrir Al-Sham”.

It is noteworthy that Kafr Takharim is witnessing security alertness, while the Syrian Observatory learned that sounds of the mosques heard warning the locals of getting out or wandering in the city for fear of storming the city in the incoming hours.

Sources informed SOHR that Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham threatened to storm the city in the incoming hours.

SOHR obtained a copy of an understanding paper between Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham, the city’s dignitaries and Al-Sham Corps, that was issued during the yesterday’s session.

SOHR published hours ago, that the city of Kafr Takharim is witnessing wide-scale protests developed to dismissing the members of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham, in which the city became empty completely of any presence of Tahrir Al-Sham, after the General Authority for Zakat revoked the agreement with the locals of Kafr Takharim, which binds it to distribute the olive Zakat only within Kafr Takharim city.

In this context, Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and their security forces in several places in Idlib and areas surrounding Kafr Takharim, have been mobilized, in order to put pressure over the locals of Kafr Takharim to subject them to comply with the decrees of the General Authority for Zakat as well as the return of the members of the police outpost to their work.

Sources confirmed to SOHR that meetings are underway to reach a solution satisfies the different parties.

SOHR published on the 4th of November 2019, that it monitored a demonstration in Kafr Takharim city north-west of Idlib.

Sources informed SOHR that the demonstrators have dismissed the deputies of the General Authority for Zakat stationed in Olive compressors.

The demonstrators also burned the papers on which they write down the amount of Zakat of each farmer, and dismissed the members of the police outpost that belongs to Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham.

It is worth mentioning that the “Rescue Government” associated with the HTS in the region, imposes taxes on civilians from public places that are rented to the people and taxes on public property invested by the people and registration of cars in the records, as well as the arrest and detention of anyone who did not register his car it has.
