Turkey starts the “demographic change” in the Syrian north, opens doors for those wishing to move to Tal Abyad

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned from reliable sources that Turkey began the process of demographic change it seeks to bring about in the areas it has taken control of in the Syrian north, where informed sources confirmed that several residents in the Syrian north are being transferred to “Tal Abyad” city, which is under the control of the Turkish Forces and the factions loyal to them of the Turkish military “Peace Spring” operation, reliable sources said: “Turkish Forces begun transferring citizens who wish to move to Tal Abyad, where cars depart daily in the morning and in the evening after registering the names of those wishing to move, and they are transported from Jarabulus to the border with Turkey and then to Tal Abyad with their property and belongings, on the pretext that they are returning to their original areas via Turkey.”

The sources said: “the escort starts daily at 7 am and again at 7 pm, and those wishing to move to Tal Abyad are transported and escorted up to the border of Tal Abyad and they leave them there.”

Since the beginning of “Peace Spring” Operation on the 9th of October 2019, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored violations carried out by the Turkey-loyal factions under the banner of the so-called “Syrian National Army”, attempting to force those who remained in the areas that they controlled in the Syrian north to leave, in order to carry out a demographic change in the area, while the Turkish Forces and intelligence and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan are watching everything, and the Syrian Observatory renews its appeals to the international community to press Turkey to stop the demographic change which Turkey is seeking to bring about in the area, and warns of the consequences of this process for the demographics of the Syrian territory in both short and long term, and the Syrian Observatory also calls on the international organizations to investigate the violations carried out by the Turkey-loyal factions of Looting, stealing, abduction, torture, and other abuses by the Turkey-loyal factions, right in front of the Turkish side, without any interference or attempt to improve the situations in the areas that are controlled by the “Peace Spring” Operation factions.
