Syria: landmine blast kills 5 school children in Deir al-Zour

On Sunday, as many as five children were murdered as a result of a landmine blast occurred inside a school in the eastern province of Deir al-Zour, a war monitor reported.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that the landmine blasted inside the Ibn Sina School in the village of Taybeh on the outskirts of Mayadeen city in the countryside of Deir al-Zour.

The Britain-based watchdog added that the number of killed people may increase as some children sustained critical injuries.

It is the newest incident in Mayadeen where people are murdered by the war’s consequences, as Daesh militants took control over the city before the government recaptured its control in 2018.
