The fiercest aerial escalation reaches the east of “Damascus – Aleppo” International Highway, and the displaced people’s humanitarian catastrophe gets aggravated amid complete absence of relevant organizations and the “Salvation Government”

4 days of the fiercest aerial campaign launched by warplanes of the regime and its ally Russia, on all towns that are located east of Damascus – Aleppo International Highway, caused substantial destruction to the locals’ property and left more than 100 citizens dead or wounded including many children and women, as a part of an operation aims to destroy the area and displace all of its residents as in the area of Jabal Al-Zawiya and the south-western countryside Idlib.

In a new escalation on the area, the regime and Russian warplanes expanded their scope of bombardment, to cover all towns that are relatively safe in the southern part of Saraqib town, the northern part of Jabal Al-Zawiya and the vicinity of Ariha city, where this operation aims to empty the entire area east of Damascus – Aleppo International Highway and Aleppo – Latakia International Highway, from Aleppo city to the south, to the regime’s positions in Khan Shaykhun and positions in the northern countryside of Latakia, where SOHR monitored decline in the pace of aerial bombardment on the eastern countryside and that it was limited mostly to the vicinity of Ariha city, Jabal Al-Zawiya and Jisr Al-Shughur countryside.

It is noteworthy that the joint operation room between the regime and Russia depends in its bombardment operations on large reconnaissance drones, and small aircraft that consider every body moves in the targeted areas as a target of aerial or artillery bombardment, according to what local sources informed the Syrian Observatory, in confirmation upon the fact that the operation is aimed at displacement and murder.

The displaced people have not been spared from the fierce bombardment that targets their towns, where the regime’s warplanes known as “Al-Harbi Al-Rashash” (fighter aircraft with machine guns mounted in them), that become spirited during the bombardment and their task is to surveil the main roads and target every car or motorcycle moving on these roads, where more than 3 cases of targeting vehicles of displaced people have been documented, which resulted in fall of several casualties due to such bombardment, it is noteworthy that the activity of such aircraft is limited to the International Highway from Saraqib town to Maarrat Al-Nu’man city.

SOHR dismisses reports about the displacement of only 12000 citizens from the targeted areas, and confirms that the number of displaced people has exceeded 65000 since the beginning of this month, where the area of some 300000 citizens became empty of population almost completely, not to mention the people displaced to it, in which most of them had displaced due to earlier rocket shelling, such as the towns of (Jarjnaz, Serman, Abu Makkah) and many other towns close to frontlines.

At the same time, the displaced people do not know where to go in the light of the overpopulation in the northern areas and the heavy rains that prevent displaced people from living in agricultural lands and under trees, as in summer, while the organizations operating there have no exerted any efforts to alleviate the suffering of displaced people, amid disregard of the Salvation Government to the catastrophes that the displaced people face, and being preoccupied with paving the road between Bab Al-Hawa crossing and Sarmada city that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, at a time when it do not spend even one dollar on any displaced person.
