Anonymous gunmen kill NDF member in his house east of Deir Ezzor
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has learned that gunmen assassinated a member of the NDF by shooting him in his house in Al-Zar village in Deir Ezzor which is under control of Syria Democratic Forces.
On December 20, SOHR documented three members of regime-loyal armed forces, the “National Defense”, were seriously injured as a mine exploded in their car in Athuria area in the eastern countryside of Hama, while they were traveling there. It is reported that the area is witnessing frequent instances of targeting members of regime forces and Iranian militias who follow this road during their movements from the eastern regions to the capital Damascus, ISIS cells are also active in the desert area.
On December 9, the Syrian Observatory has monitored the continued activity of the “Islamic State” in the Syrian Desert, particularly in Homs and Deir ez-Zor deserts, through renewed attacks that are being carried out from time to time by ISIS elements targeting the positions of Iranians and allied militias, regime forces and allied armed men positions. In addition to planting mines and explosive devices deep into the Syrian desert targeting the military columns that come to the desert in order to “sweep” the area or as reinforcements to fortify positions and posts, The last of such attacks was the IEDs that exploded in a joint column of the Palestinian Liwa al-Quds and the NDF, which killed 2 members and injured 17 others.
For its part, Russia did nothing towards ISIS activity and its presence in wide swaths in the Desert, as it preoccupied with killing and displacing the Syrians in the “de-escalation” zone, and with its agreements with Turkey about the area of North-east Syria.
Also the Iranians are preoccupied with “Shiitization” and attracting men and youth in the west of Euphrates and the Syrian South in order to use them for launching attacks against ISIS, while Syrian regime remains powerless.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has reported during the period between the 24th of March 2019 until today, the death toll to at least 276 members of regime forces and allied militias of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, including at least 2 Russians, in addition to 37 of Iranian militias of non-Syrian nationalities, were all killed during attacks, bombings and ambushes by “Islamic State” organization west of Euphrates in the deserts of Deir Ezzor, Homs, and Al-Suwaidaa, also the Syrian Observatory documented the killing of 103 members of the “Islamic State” Organization, of who were killed during the same period during attacks, shelling, and targeting.
