Cautious and relative calm prevails the “de-escalation” zone as warplanes still absent from airspace for nearly 24 hours

Regime and Russian aircraft has been still absent from the “de-escalation” zone’s airspace since Tuesday evening. Meanwhile, cautious calm is prevailing the conflict zones interrupted by shelling every now and then.

In connection to this, the jihadi factions shelled positions in the regime forces in Al-Magharah, Tal Musaytif, Al-Barseh and Farawan in the eastern countryside of Maarrat Al-Nu’man. For its part, the regime forces shelled the vicinity of Maarrat Al-Nu’man, Maarshurin, Al-Deir Al-Sharqi, Al-Ghadfah and Tal Mannas in the same countryside.

In this context, sporadic clashes erupted between the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them against rebel factions, in areas in Abu Jurayf in the eastern countryside of Idlib, and areas of the western parts of Abu Al-Duhur.

SOHR monitored yesterday the factions pullout from the villages of Sahyan, Babulin and the vicinity of the Turkish post in Maar Hattat south of Maarrat Al-Nu’man city, where the areas became empty of any military presence.

This calm is coincided with noticeable deteriorating weather conditions along with heavy rainfall, which impedes the overflight of regime and Russian warplanes.

Separately, factions and jihadi groups attacked positions of the regime forces in Al-Qasabiyah area where clashes erupted between both parties. After these clashes had been over, the factions retreated to their positions.

In connection to this, jihadi groups unleashed a surprising attack on regime positions in Kabani area in Jabal Al-Akrad in the northern countryside of Latakia, where fierce clashes ignited between both side. During these clashes, four regime soldiers were killed amid confirmed information about more casualties in the ranks of both parties.
