Russia prepares to form new local militia in Eastern Ghouta

Rif-Dimashq Governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

Reliable source informed SOHR that “Russian forces” began to form a “local militia” consisting of members who settled their security situation with Syrian regime in Douma city, in eastern Ghouta of Damascus.

Observatory sources added that Russian forces in Douma city required those wishing to register and volunteer within the militia to have made a “security settlement” with the regime, and not affiliating with any other entity within the regime forces.

The Russian center responsible for this initiative received a large number of applicants, reached nearly 400 young people in Douma city.

The Russian officer in charge of registering the applications also said that the militia will be fully subordinate to Russian forces without any interference of the regime security services, material and logistical support will provide from the Russian military police deployed in Douma, and cards for this militia members will be issued by Hamimim base allowing its holders to exercise security authority without any interference from security or military entity of the Syrian regime.
