Regime checkpoints prevent construction materials from entering areas in Wadi Barada in rural Damascus

Rif-Dimashq Governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Local sources informed the Syrian Observatory that the leadership of the “Fourth Division”, run by Maher al-Assad, brother of the head of Syrian regime, has issued instructions to its checkpoints, stationed in the vicinity of the towns of Daer Maqrin and Bassemeh in Wadi Barada in rural Damascus, to prevent construction materials from being entered into these towns.

Observatory sources added that the 4th Division’s checkpoints confiscated large quantities of building materials during the previous days as people tried to bring these materials into their areas in order to restore their homes destroyed by military operations in the area, during the period when opposition factions took control of Wadi Barada’s villages and towns.
