Asayish forces prevent a Russian patrol from crossing to Smelka and some 30 Russian armored vehicles head to Al-Hasakah

Reliable sources informed the Syrian Observatory that a checkpoint of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) stopped a Russian patrol while heading towards Smelka crossing point on the border with Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The Russian patrol was prevented from crossing the checkpoint as it had not coordinated with the Asayish forces.

Last week, activists told SOHR that a Russian patrol visited Smelka crossing where the Russian soldiers shot the bridge and the crossing’s perimeter, then returned to their base in Al-Qamishli area.

In connection to this, the Observatory sources reported seeing more than 30 Russian armored vehicles heading from Ain Issa city towards Al-Hasakah city via the Asayish checkpoint which was targeted two days ago by a Turkish drones. This actions is coincided with shrinking the regime presence in this area.
