Idlib’s new ceasefire: regime and Russia halt all aerial operations but regime ground forces shell Maarrat Al-Nu’man

Cautious calm prevailed in the “de-escalation” zone during the first 12 hours of new ceasefire agreed upon between Russian and Turkey.

This calm was interrupted by rocket shells fired by the regime ground forces in the early hours of Sunday morning, targeting areas in Maarrat Al-Nu’man city and the towns and villages of Maarshmarin, Maarshourin, Maarshamsheh, Deir Sharqi, Deir Gharbi and Tal Mannas in Maarrat Al-Nu’man countryside, and Taqqanah and Rakaya Sajnah south of Idlib city.

Meanwhile, the area witnessed cessation of aerial operations, only Russian reconnaissance drones flew over Idlib province.

This morning, the Syrian Observatory monitored cautious calm prevailing throughout “Putin-Erdogan” area since Sunday morning to date, with the new ceasefire entering into force.

However, regime forces violated the calm by targeting intermittently with rocket-propelled grenades Maarat al-Numan city and the villages of Maar shamsheh, Kafr Bassin, Maar shorin, Taqaneh and Talmans in rural Idlib, on Sunday morning.
