Mystery still shrouds the ongoing Russian movements in NE Syria

SOHR sources reported seeing a new Russian military column heading from Manbij area in the north-eastern countryside of Aleppo to Ain Issa in the northern countryside of Al-Raqqah.

This action came after a similar column headed yesterday also from Manbij to Ain Issa, as a part of the Russian and regime forces movements within in the north-east Syria during the past hours and days.

No information has been reported yet about the reasons for these mysterious movements and whether there is a relation between them and the ceasefire in the “de-escalation” zone, agreed upon between Turkey and Russia.

A military column belongs to regime and Russian forces set off on Monday morning, from Al Qamishli city through Al Derbasiya and took the road of Ras al-Ain town (Sri Kanier).

The column consisted of at least 12 armored vehicles and military trucks, without knowing the reasons for the column’s mission, amid movements of Turkish forces and loyal factions in the area.

The current developments in north-eastern Syria are coincided with a ceasefire within the “de-escalation” zone.

SOHR activists in Al-Darbasiyah city, reported seeing a Russian military column of nearly 25 vehicles coming from Abu Rasin area to Al-Qamishli city. The column included military gears, tankers and other vehicles.

Sources added that today’s column is a completion of the column that headed yesterday to Al-Qamishli.

In connection to this, activists told the Observatory that two vehicles of the Russian Police are roaming with vehicles of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in both western and south-western countryside of Al-Darbasiyah.
