Idlib’s second largest city falls to regime forces

SOHR sources confirmed that the regime forces imposed their control over Maarrat Al-Nu’man city, the second largest city in Idlib province, after storming it from three sides (southern, western and eastern sides).

The regime managed to capture the city less than four days after launching a ground military operation supervised by the Russians. This operation came under a cover of intense aerial and ground firepower represented by thousands of airstrikes, barrel bombs, rockets and artillery shells, which led the regime to capture 25 other territory including Wadi Al-Daif and Hantutin. At this moment, the regime forces are sweeping Maarrat Al-Nu’man city.

Since Friday evening, the regime forces have imposed their control over 24 villages and towns: Telmans, Ma’ar Shmasha, Deir Sharqi, Deir Al-Gharbi, Ma’ar Shmarin, Ma’rata, Al-Ghadfa, Ma’ar Shourin Al-Za’alana, Al-Dana, Tal Sheikh, Sawami’e, Khirbet Mezyan, Masaran, Bsida, Taqana, Babolin, Kafr Bassin, Marhatat, Hamidia, Dar Al-Salaam, Salhia, Kafruma, Maarrat Al-Nu’man city, Wadi Al-Daif and Hantutin).
