Turkey-Russian tension expands to NE Syria as the Russians close crossing between Amuda and Al-Darbasyah
Activists informed the Syrian Observatory that Russian forces closed the crossing between Amuda and Al-Darbasyah, near Al-Kharazah village on the Syria-Turkey border, by large cement blocks. It is noteworthy that the crossing had been opened by Turkey before it closed again and put an iron gate.
It seems that the tension between both forces that emerged two days ago in the Syrian North, expanded to overshadow the NE Syria region.
SOHR sources reported on Thursday that the Russian forces and their Turkish counterpart conducted a new joint patrol in the countryside of Al-Darbasiyah and Ras Al-Ain (Sere Kaniye). The patrol started from Sherik crossing on the border with Turkey and toured areas in Abu Rasin, Zahr Al-Arab, Kasra, Tawrat, Ta’allak, Otayshan and Dalik, before it returned back to Sherik.
This is the 24th patrol of its kind to be run since joint patrols between the Turks and the Russians started in early November.
