Nearly 100 soldiers and rebels killed as battles continue in Aleppo and Idlib countryside

Syrian Observatory activists documented the death of a civilian in bombardment by Russian jets on Al-Nabariz village in the southern countryside of Aleppo.

Separately, clashes are still continuing in the suburbs of Aleppo city following advancement by the rebel and jihadi factions with the elite forces in HTS -the “Red Headbands”- into Jam’eyyat Al-Zahraa neighborhood. Hours ago, the opposition factions imposed their control over Al-Maliyah roundabout and the area of Al-Rasol Al-A’zam that used to be under control of regime forces and Iranian militias.

Also fierce clashes are underway in Al-Qal’ajiyah and Al-Humayrah in the southern countryside of Aleppo.

Meanwhile, regime forces are trying to advance in Saraqeb countryside amid intensive aerial and ground bombardment. They managed to advance into the vicinity of Kafr Batikh village.

On the other hand, aerial bombardment continues on both Aleppo and Idlib countryside bringing the number of today’s airstrikes carried out by Russian jets to 82, targeting Hour, Khan Al-Asal and M5 highway in Aleppo countryside and areas in Saraqeb and Jabal Al-Arba’in.

Also the number of strikes carried out by regime jets rose to 58, targeting “M5” and “M4” highways, “Saraqib” and its countryside, the brick factory, Jabal al-Arba’in, Areha, Al-Mastuma and Taftnaz in Idlib countryside.

Fore their part, regime helicopters dropped 42 barrel bombs on Aleppo and areas in Saraqib and Afes.

The clashes, bombardment and car-bomb explosions in the past 24 hours killed 56 regime soldiers and 42 rebels of opposition factions including 22 jihadis.

As SOHR activists documented more human losses, the number of fatalities in the ranks of both warring forces who have been killed in bombardment and fierce clashes since Friday, the 24th of January 2020, rose to 188 jihadis among 262 opposition fighters and 261 regime soldiers and loyalists of whom there are six foreign militiamen loyal to Iran.
