The Syrian Observatory For Human Rights

As part of the American – Russian rivalry east of Euphrates, Russian forces head north of al-Hasakah to establish military base

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored this morning the Russian forces heading from “al-Abqar Base” station in Tal Tamr town, in addition to Russian Forces from Qameshly airport towards the international road M4 in order to establish a military base at the junction of Tal Abyad – al-Raqqah in the northern countryside, which is about 10 km away from al-Raqqah city.

The Syrian Observatory monitored on the 3rd of February 2020 that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored a new chapter of tension between the American Forces and their Russian counterpart northeast of Syria, where three Russian helicopters flew today over Tal Tamr city, while the American helicopters took off from “Qasrak” base to keep their Russian counterpart away from the area.

The American helicopters pursued the Russian helicopters until they reached the airspace of Ras al-Ayn in rural al-Hasakah.

In the same context, Russian vehicles drove around an American checkpoint of 10 vehicles which were positioned to prevent the Russian patrols from reaching the “M4” road, where they took a dirt road and pass the American checkpoint, after that the American helicopters flew and sent warnings and smoke signals for the Russian vehicles, which then returned back.
