Syrian regime and HTS swap prisoners west of Aleppo

Reliable sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory that the regime forces received the body of an Iranian-backed fighter, near Anjara town in the western countryside of Aleppo, in return for releasing two alive fighters of opposition factions captured in the past few days during a recent battle between both parties. No confirmed information has been reported so far about the opposition fighters’ identity whether being of HTS or of Al-Sham Corps which is close to Turkey.

On the 31st of July 2019, reliable sources informed SOHR that Turkish-backed factions swapped prisoners with the Syrian regime. According to the sources, the factions handed over 15 regime soldiers of those who were in their custody, in return for releasing 14 persons who were in the regime’s prisons, including civilians and former fighters detained earlier by regime forces.

“The operation took place via Abu al-Zendin crossing in Tadef area in the north-eastern countryside of Aleppo, with Turkey – Russia sponsorship and under supervision of a delegation from the International Red Cross.
