Turkish forces shell regime positions west of Aleppo, amid ongoing Russian aerial bombardment on Jabal Al-Zawiya

Syrian Observatory sources reported that the Turkish troops stationed on Syria border with Iskenderun region renewed shelling regime-held areas in the western countryside of Idlib with rockets.

Meanwhile, opposition factions shot down a reconnaissance armed drone with heavy machineguns, in Jabal Al-Zawiya area in the southern countryside of Idlib.

On the other hand, regime and Russian jets continue intensive bombardment on Idlib province bringing the number of today’s airstrikes to nearly 75. The airstrikes pounded places in Kafr Nubl, Al-Bara, Ihsim, Binin, Al-Fatirah, Sarja, Ibbin, Juzif and other places in Jabal Al-Zawiya in the southern countryside of Idlib.

Hours ago, SOHR activists documented the killing of a little girl in Russian aerial airstrikes on Juzif village in Jabal Al-Zawiya.

It is suggested that the regime and Russian escalating bombardment on Jabal Al-Zawiya and Jabal Shashaboo is paving the way for an expected ground operation there. Such operation comes at a time when regime forces seek to reach Aleppo – Latakia highway (M4), starting from south Idlib, after blocking the highway’s outlets from the eastern countryside of Idlib by Turkish forces.
