Heavy losses: Russian-backed regime forces unleash counterattack on Saraqeb, while opposition factions recover Kansafra

Syrian Observatory sources have reported that fierce battles are still underway in different frontlines in rural Idlib. With Russian air support, regime forces unleashed a counterattack on the Turkish-backed factions and jihadi groups, attempting to recover Saraqeb city in the eastern countryside of Idlib.

SOHR activists have documented gross human losses in the ranks of both warring forces due to bombardment and fierce clashes in the city which regime forces lost hours ago. 17 jihadis among 25 opposition fighters were killed, in addition to the killing of 36 regime soldiers and loyalists.

In Jabal Al-Zawiyah, SOHR sources have reported that opposition factions and jihadi groups carried out counterattack on Kansafrah and Mawzarah areas just hours after being captured by regime forces. The factions regained control of Kansafra amid ongoing fierce clashes in the area accompanied by intensive aerial and ground bombardment.
