Insecurity in al-Suwaidaa increases: citizens kidnapped near military checkpoints

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the increase of chaos in al-Suwaidaa province, where a kidnapping attempt took place today by unidentified gunmen near a military checkpoint of the regime, on Walga road‎ in the western countryside of al-Suwaidaa, but the residents were able to confront and prevent them, then the gunmen fled towards the military checkpoint and crossed it without being intercepted or being arrested.

In the same context, another citizen was subjected to a kidnapping attempted by gunmen on the 25th of February 2020.

According to the Syrian Observatory’s sources, the clashes were caused by the kidnapping of a member of “Sheikh al-Karama” forces a few days ago.

Meanwhile, “Sheikh al-Karama” forces detained several officers of the regime forces from a military post near “Abd Mar” Shrine in Salkhad.

Moreover, forces of “Sheikh al-Karama” issued a statement in which they took responsibility of detaining regime forces members, also the statement noted that detaining these soldiers came after they found out that a member of “Sheikh al-Karama” forces is present in one of the security branches of the regime, and that he is accused of dealing with the Israeli occupation and was classified as a terrorist because he belongs to forces of “Sheikh al-Karama”.

On the 13th of February 2020, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored an attack with machineguns targeted the military security detachment in Salkhad city, which caused significant material damage in citizens’ homes.
