Fierce clashes erupt in Al-Sanamayn as regime forces storm the city using heavy weapons

Daraa Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Syrian Observatory sources have reported that fierce clashes are underway in Al-Sanamayn city in the northern countryside of Daraa, between former fighters of the factions and regime forces. The clashes, accompanied by regime artillery shelling, erupted following a “security” operation by regime forces this dawn after blocking the ways to and out of the city completely.

The clashes are concentrated in both northern and western neighborhoods of Al-Sanamayn as regime forces are seeking to tighten security grip over the city, ignoring the reconciliation and settlement deals sponsored and supervised by Russia. SOHR activists have reported about casualties in the ongoing bombardment and clashes, amid a state of panic and discontent by the locals there.

It is noteworthy that this operation has been the largest military escalation ever in Daraa province since regime forces recovered the entire province in July 2018.
